The girls decided they wanted to build boats out of Lego to see which ones would float/sink and go the fastest. There was me thinking it was the summer holidays!
There wasn’t really any scientific basis for how the boats were designed. Peggy went with a catamaran-style affair for her Lego Friends, whereas Aggie went more towards a galleon-style craft with a deep hull. Both girls seemed to appreciate the need for a fairly standard design when it came to seaworthy vessels.
One thing we hadn’t accounted for, perhaps, was that however tightly you squeeze Lego blocks together you can never make them completely watertight (and we weren’t about to go superglueing all the joints), so that eventually they began taking on water and sinking to the bottom of the bath.
