Dom and I dropped modern languages as soon as we could at school (Dom did German and Susan did French) so this area is one in which we’ve had to learn and grow ourselves before helping the girls to do the same. After many many hours spent on Duolingo, and the hope of using our skills on our travels round South/Central America one day, we both got to the standard that we needed to help the girls through KS3 level Spanish.
The girls really enjoy learning languages and pick them up really quickly. I’ve had to learn at quite a pace to keep ahead of them!
Little did we know that, just a few years later after lots of self-studying, both girls would achieve a 7 in their GCSE Spanish!
