Roman Baths in Bath

Published

by Susan

No study of Romans would be complete without a trip to the Roman baths in Bath itself. We went down for a weekend and used the YHA Bath as our base for a couple of nights. Our room was smart and comfortable with a private en-suite and the breakfasts were fabulous too!

It was a seriously hot day and the tourists were out in force so the Baths were pretty busy but we didn’t feel rushed walking round and exploring. The free audio guide was really interesting and we all ended up listening to the children’s version narrated by Michael Rosen as that was funnier than the adult recording.

It was amazing for the girls to see the Baths “in real life” and to walk where Romans had once walked. We all really really enjoyed this visit.

Rock and River water activity course

This course was all water-based and each session was three hours long. Parents can stay in the grounds (and watch if they wish) or drop off ... Read more

Daddy had a day off work so we found the only museum to be open near us – Bolton Museum. The girls had both learned about Ancient Egypt at their old school but we still learned plenty of new things. I can’t recommend this museum enough. It has really good child-friendly displays and the staff ... Read more
