What a brilliant little museum! Right in the heart of Manchester between two massive hospital buildings lies this historic house and now an inspiring museum – The Pankhurst Centre. We spent just 45 minutes there but the conversations it triggered far exceeded that. Both girls already knew quite a bit about the Suffragettes thanks to Horrible Histories but Agatha has been reading more about it in her new KS3 history book. It therefore seemed perfect timing to go and have a look.
There are only three rooms to look round but these include really good wall displays, lovely artefacts to look at and a very informative film (so good we watched it twice). There is a display about protests right up to the present day which the girls found particularly inspiring. Peggy especially liked the sound of living up in treehouses like Swampy did. I think we’ve got a future activist on our hands…
