Both girls have really enjoyed following the course run by Mr Hutchinson, on the National Oak Academy website, about Sikhism. It goes into a surprising amount of detail about the religion and how it’s practised today.
The course is spread over 10 lessons and includes 2.25 hours of videos to watch and engage with. Peggy happily watched the course but chose not to do the essay element at the end. Aggie, however, wanted to treat this as a KS3 lesson. I therefore showed her how to take notes throughout the lessons and we spent a good couple of days writing the concluding essay.
Aggie really, really enjoyed this course and has become something of a Mr Hutchinson fan. She wants to do another course by him soon. I’ve attached the essay she wrote as it’s her first ever essay (1,042 words long!) and something to celebrate. I’m sure it’ll be the first of many over the coming years… Hopefully we’ll be able to follow this course up with a visit to a Gurdwara once Covid restrictions are lifted.
