Challah bread-making workshop

Published

by Susan

After our brilliant first visit to the Manchester Jewish Museum (see post here), we returned for a challah bread-making workshop. Challah is blessed and eaten on the Sabbath when the family come together.

The girls really enjoyed making this bread and it was amazing how the same ingredients produced such different loaves! You could add your own twist though, by adding dried fruit or sesame seeds. Whilst the bread was in the oven, we got to explore the museum again and complete a child-friendly trail. Once back in the kitchen, we were greeted with the most amazing smell!

We all managed to make it home without eating the bread (only just) so we could show Daddy, but all three loaves were devoured in their entirety within 15 minutes. They were enjoyed warm with a good amount of butter. Delicious!

We can highly recommend this workshop which is repeated many times throughout the year. It’s really good value for money as the museum entry is included in the cost and you get your lunch sorted for you too!

The Ancient Egyptians are in Bolton!

Daddy had a day off work so we found the only museum to be open near us – Bolton Museum. The girls had both learned about Ancient Egypt at their old school but we still learned plenty of new things. I can’t recommend this museum enough. It has really good child-friendly displays and the staff ... Read more
