Brass Band concerts and competitions

The end of Easter term is always a busy time in the Brass Band calendar. The girls went down to Corby to take part in the National Youth Brass Band Championships where their band, Dobcross Training Band, came second in their category. It was a fair trek down there but the girls loved spending more time with their band friends and all the coach banter and singing on the journey. On the way back they were treated to some time at Clifton Park in Rotherham where there’s a permanent funfair. Aggie enjoyed going on the rides whilst Peggy and her friends opted for the free playground next door. It was a great place to stretch their legs in the middle of a long journey.

The girls also took part in a Music for Youth Contest where all three Dobcross bands (Beginner, Training and Youth) got to play one after the other. It was amazing for the whole Dobcross Band family to be together and to hear the fabulous comments from the judges.

They then finished off the term with the annual Easter concert held at the band club. This is famed for the raffle which has over 100 Easter eggs as prizes; we came home with a good armful!

My tuba Tony and I spent a week at the National School Symphony Orchestra at Malvern College. This is what I thought about the experience. Spoiler alert: I loved it, and can't wait to go again next year.
