How we structured English KS3
We started off KS3 earlier than year 7 for both girls as they were ready for something a bit harder and we wanted to start afresh with more consistency.
We started off with the Twinkl Beyond KS3 curriculum map and selected some units from there. You can see in detail some of the English KS3 Twinkl units we tackled – more units write ups will be coming soon…
We soon expanded our collection of English KS3 Hodder Anthologies as we worked our way through these books to help with comprehension, use of language and creative writing. These books are fantastic and the girls love choosing which extracts they’re going to work on next.
Shakespeare is something we’ve looked at from early on and I created my own resource for exploring Macbeth at KS2/3 level. You can read more about our approach to English KS3 Shakespeare here.
