This is the subject I find the hardest to get my head around as there is so much content you could cover and so many different aspects. We weren’t consistent with English at all until KS3 when I seemed to find my flow thanks to Twinkl.
For KS2, we very much tackled English from a literature angle as we all enjoy books and I’m a true believer in the more you read, the better a writer you’ll become. We therefore mostly did book studies using the amazing unit studies by Literacy Shed Plus. For just £29.99 a year, you have access to more book and film studies than you could ever use!
For KS3 English we completely changed our path. My English epiphany seemed to come after I discovered Twinkl Beyond’s KS3 units. This became our go-to for English which I then supplemented with our resources.
Both girls are now working towards both English Language GCSE and English Literature GCSE with the aim of sitting these in June 2026.
