“Wild” tour with Ben Fogle

We love Ben. He is such an inspirational character and his TV programmes are brilliant. He’s incredibly engaging and a very good storyteller. He is also most agreeable on the eye too!

Dom and I went to see his first tour “Tales from the Wilderness” back in 2019 and we wanted to see him again; this time we took the girls along too.

Right from the start, the girls were totally engrossed. Ben went from story to story about his time rowing across the Atlantic, trekking to the South Pole and climbing Everest and what his motivation was and preparations were for each challenge. He talked a lot about the people he met whilst filming his TV programme “New Lives in the Wild” and how each of these experiences have gone on to shape his own life and family.

You can’t help but come away feeling part inadequate yet also part totally inspired! Ben talks about finding your “Ocean of Possibility” and we definitely came out of the theatre pumped up for finding our own challenges to tackle. Ben very much emphasises that usually the greatest things happen when you’re out of your comfort zone, whether it be trying new things or pushing yourself to your limits. Ben provided plenty of evidence over the evening of people achieving great things because they simply got on with it and put everything they had into it. This is the best message for all four of us!

Ben talked a lot about his time spent in Chernobyl and the girls were very keen to learn more about it. Since we didn’t get home from Buxton until gone 11pm, we had a lazy morning after snuggled up on the sofa watching Ben’s documentary about Chernobyl. It was absolutely fascinating and the documentary answered all of the girls’ questions, so well done Ben!
