My first gymnastics competition!

In October, I competed in a gymnastics competition at my club. This was my first ever competition, and the last time I’d be competing before I joined my new senior advanced class. It was a really great day and I had lots of fun. I got silver on floor with my routine consisting of moves such as a cartwheel, a handstand, and a split leap. I also got gold on vault, where I had to do a handstand flatback. I got gold overall for my age category and even got a special trophy to keep.

I worked really hard for this competition, and the outcome was better than I expected. We also watched some of the senior club gymnasts do their competition floor routines. It was really inspiring, and I hope to be like that as I improve.

A morning of kayaking

Via the wonders of Facebook, we found out about the Debdale Outdoor Activity Centre in Gorton, Manchester. They offer three-hour sailing, windsurfing and kayaking sessions for just £10 each and, during some holidays, some sessions are cheaper or even free. Our girls absolutely loved their first session and definitely want to return.

This course was all water-based and each session was three hours long. Parents can stay in the grounds (and watch if they wish) or drop off ... Read more
