Our family loves nothing more than being outside. We’re a very outdoorsy family and have a campfire at any opportunity. We weren’t particularly looking for a forest school as we felt we naturally spent enough time in nature but then we went to a session run by Inside Out Forest School in Glossop back in September 2020 and we’ve been going every week ever since!
The parents get as much out of this forest school as the kids. We’ve become a real tribe that shares all the highs and lows of home edding whilst the kids crack on in the forest and river. We’re very grateful to have found this group; our home ed experience would be poorer without it.
The activities we do at forest school have changed over the years and we’re very grateful to our forest leader Polly who has expertly adapted the sessions to keep the girls engaged as they’ve got older. As you’ll see now, the focus is most definitely on cooking and eating round the fire!
We’ve also been to a few sessions over in Delamere Forest run by Forest Explorers. This is a treat as it’s quite a trek for us to get there but the sessions are consistently good and Ranger Pete is a font of all knowledge.
